Basic, or foundational, security has at least seven components for human societies:
1. Economic security
Including a minimum income, job security, preserving the value of the national currency, a healthy trade balance (the proportion of exports to imports), gross national product, the fair distribution of wealth and resources, and the like.
2. Food security
Including a minimum of adequate nutrition and food supply, mechanizing agriculture and modernizing irrigation systems, food storage, and building sound silos and warehouses, among other measures.
3. Health security
Including safe drinking water, a secure living environment, access to healthcare services, low-cost population-control programs, support for mothers and infants, safe and affordable childbirth, the prevention of disease — especially contagious disease — and educating the public on health principles while raising standards, among other measures.
4. Environmental security
Including preventing air and water pollution, preventing the destruction of forests and pastureland, preserving farmland, and the necessary planning to anticipate natural hazards such as drought, flooding, earthquakes, and severe storms.
5. Personal security
Including respect for the right to private property, the right to choose one's occupation, the right to choose one's religion, the right to marry, and the right to choose one's place of residence, among other rights.
6. Social and cultural security
Including preserving local cultures, languages, and dialects; preventing any form of ethnic, racial, religious, gender, linguistic, or cultural discrimination; and supporting the entire Iranian nation — in every corner of the country — with full equality before the law.
7. Political security
Including upholding the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, freedom of speech, freedom of the press, freedom of assembly, and freedom to participate in elections; no imprisonment of political activists; no death penalty; and freedom to travel abroad, except where legitimate legal restrictions apply.
